Perianal abscess is the accumulation of pus near the anus. It is usually associated withheavy pain causing a lot of discomfort while sitting. There are numerous glands on the walls of the anal canal. These glands when they get infected, it leads to anal or perianal abscess.

It can be caused due toanal fissure (a tear in the lining of the anal canal) which may get infected leading to an anal abscess.

It can also be transmitted from person to person if persons are engaged in unprotected anal sex.

Or it can also occur due to blocked anal glands
